The Minnesota Vikings had a week to forget on their road trip out west to Seattle. The Seahawks threw everything they had at Minnesota, and the result was their first shutout loss in 18 years. An entire generation of fans had not seen the Vikings have zero on the scoreboard, but now a whole new one will have to start over the trend. CBS Sports’ John Breech wrote about their performance in his weekly grades he dished out on Monday. For the Vikings, they earned an impressive D- despite their efforts to earn less than that on the field. Breech explains the grade, writing, “When you give an undrafted rookie QB his first career start in a hostile environment on the road, bad things are usually going to happen and the Vikings found that out the hard way. Max Brosmer threw four interceptions and got sacked four times in a game where he was simply in way over his head. The only reason this grade isn’t an ‘F’ is because Brian Flores’ defense did everything possible to keep Minnesota in this game, holding Seattle to a season-low 216 yards and just one offensive TD. Going into Week 13, the Seahawks had only been held under 300 yards ONCE this season. But the story here is that the Vikings’ entire season has been a nightmare at the QB position and that nightmare continued against the Seahawks.”Luckily for them, which is a phrase we can’t believe we are saying out loud, they won’t have to play Brosmer in Week 13, it seems. The team announced that J.J. McCarthy is clear of concussion protocol and as a result, he should be able to start against the Commanders in Week 14. How much that helps remains to be seen.
