The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have brought up the rear of the AFC East this season. The Dolphins have bragging rights for their win earlier this season at Hard Rock Stadium and the Jets will try to get that back when they host their rival on Dec 7.Both teams have improved since their meeting on “Monday Night Football” in September. The Dolphins have won four of their last five and three straight and the Jets also have had a mild resurgence, winning three of their last five after starting the season 0-7. Miami has been winning behind the running of De’Von Achane and a young defense that has steadily improved. New York switched QBs to the well-traveled Tyrod Taylor – 7 teams in 15 NFL seasons – and hopes for the return of injured WR Garrett Wilson. The weather could be a factor at the Meadowlands – temperatures in the 30s and a snow storm is expected to reach the greater New York area on Nov. 5.The Palm Beach Post sports staff, in the relative warmth of South Florida, offers these predictions on the outcome:Joe Schad – Dolphins 23-21If the Dolphins contain Jets running back Breece Hall, they win. But this is no gimme. It’s going to be cold and Tua Tagovailoa is 0-7 when it’s 46 degrees or colder at kickoff. Tua is 6-0 against the Jets. So something has to give. Dolphins win it in the final minutes as a big play by Jaylen Waddle sets up a game-winning field goal by Riley Patterson.Hal Habib – Dolphins 20-17The Dolphins have won three in a row but (don’t look now) the Jets have won three of their past five. That includes a victory over the Browns, who blew out the Dolphins. Combine that with the cold weather and there’s reason to be concerned about this one. I’ll put my faith in De’Von Achane against the NFL’s 25th-ranked run defense.Tom D’Angelo – Jets 23-21 The Dolphins come into the game having won 4-of-5. The Jets are not far behind going 3-2 in their last five. But don’t be fooled. These two teams still are in the bottom third of the league. Nobody is fooled by the Dolphins escaping with close wins over the Commanders and Saints the last two game. Or the Jets beating the Falcons and Browns. Home field will be the difference in this one.Nick Pugliese – Jets 24-21I want to believer the Dolphins can make it four straight and sweep the Jets – but there are too many reasons to see Miami falling short. The recent poor play of Tua Tagovailoa, the cold weather, the struggle to beat Washington and New Orleans and the history of this AFC rivalry that usually sees these teams splitting their annual series..oembed-frame {width:100%;height:100%;margin:0;border:0;}This article originally appeared on Palm Beach Post: Predicting Miami Dolphins-New York Jets game and wondering about weather
