Liverpool boss Arne Slot has been speaking to the media before Saturday’s Premier League game against Leeds at Elland Road (17:30 GMT).Here are the key lines from his news conference:Joe Gomez “got a knock” in last weekend’s win over West Ham game but was still fit to start against Sunderland. He was withdrawn before the hour mark on Wednesday but will train on Friday.Meanwhile, Conor Bradley has trained all week and is expected to be in the squad for Saturday’s game.Reflecting on the Reds’ past two games, Slot said: “Four points from two games is different than the previous two home games we played. In the past two games, we were one defection away from keeping two clean sheets. We didn’t concede from a set-piece, which is also important. The players we brought in over the summer are getting more and more consistent in their performances. Positives to take but still not where we want to be.”On Mohamed Salah not starting two games in a row: “Every player is my mind to start matches because we have so many good players, and Mo has been such an exceptional player for us. He’s always in my mind to either start or to come on. He’s been so influential for the club and for me and his team-mates.”Asked if the top four is now the aim this season, Slot said: “It’s definitely our first aim to come back to the top four because we’re obviously not happy with the position we’re in at the moment.”On whether Federico Chiesa’s performances warrant a start: “Every player has a possibility to start, but we have many options to start in his position. He is having his impact coming of the bench a few times.”On Chiesa’s late defensive contribution against the Black Cats: “It tells you the mentality he has not to concede, which is a good thing. Attackers should have that as well as defenders.”On Florain Wirtz: “You can see where his confidence is at over the past two games. How many times he wants the ball and how many times his team-mates play him the ball. It’s also clear he came back with an injury from Germany [international duty]. He’s done well. He was one of the players who kept constantly trying and was creative [against Sunderland].”When asked how Alexander Isak can be more involved in the play, Slot said: “It’s obvious and clear to me that we want to bring him in more threatening situations. It’s definitely on my list of things to improve – getting our number nine more involved in the game, let alone the final third.”On Saturday’s opponents: “I looked at Leeds v Chelsea and I thought I saw a Liverpool game. What we expect is what we have seen in the second half against Manchester City, when they were 2-0 down and came back to 2-2. Against Chelsea, they were really strong and played really aggressively.”Follow all of Friday’s Premier League news conferences and the rest of the day’s football newsListen to live commentary of Leeds v Liverpool on Saturday from 17:30 on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds
