Packers place DL Devonte Wyatt on IR, opening roster spot

The Green Bay Packers placed defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt on injured reserve on Friday, opening a spot on the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Chicago Bears. Wyatt, a starter at defensive tackle for Jeff Hafley’s defense, suffered a season-ending ankle injury during the Packers’ win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. The open roster spot could go to wide receiver Jayden Reed, who has been practicing for over two weeks and is eligible to be activated off injured reserve. The only question is when Reed is activated. He could return Saturday and play Sunday against the Bears, or the Packers could push his return until next week.Reed, who had surgery to fix his collarbone and foot after Week 2, practiced in a limited capacity each day this week and was officially listed as questionable to play on the final injury report released Friday. The Packers could also activate defensive end Brenton Cox Jr., who had his 21-day practice window opened on Monday. He practiced this week and is questionable for Sunday. It’s also possible the Packers are making a waiver claim and needed to open a roster spot on Friday.Wyatt, a first-round pick in the 2022 draft, produced 4.0 sacks, seven quarterback hits, 22 pressures and six tackles for loss over 10 games in 2025. He missed time earlier in the season with a knee injury. This article originally appeared on Packers Wire: Packers place DL Devonte Wyatt on IR, opening roster spot
