Syracuse basketball freshman Aaron Womack to redshirt

Freshman Aaron Womack is set to redshirt with Syracuse basketball for the 2025-26 season, according to Syracuse Athletics. Womack, a 6-foot-6 guard from Wisconsin, has yet to play in Syracuse’s first eight games. He’s the only scholarship player not to see time this season.After the Drexel game Adrian Autry said he was in conversation with Womack about the possibility of a redshirt.“Super talented. We just have to figure out what’s the best decision for him,” Autry said then.That decision would be to redshirt. Syracuse’s backcourt has plenty of depth with Naithan George, JJ Starling, Nate Kingz, Kiyan Anthony, Bryce Zephir and Luke Fennell. Womack, a 170 lb guard who defines himself as a worker, came to Syracuse known as an outside shooter. He can focus on adding weight to his frame while preserving eligibility. He’ll have four years of eligibility after this season.Allen Griffin was Womack’s primary recruiter at Syracuse.Womack came to Syracuse from Dominican High School in Wisconsin where he averaged 28.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.8 blocks per game as a senior. Womack had 15 double-doubles and scored at least 20 points in all but four games as a senior. He helped the Knights to a 17-9 record in 2024-25.
