Jaguars coach may garner ‘serious looks’ during head coaching cycle

Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile could be one head coaching candidate who draws some attention during the upcoming offseason. In Dianna Russini’s latest ‘What I’m hearing’ article for The Athletic, she mentions Campanile among the assistant coaches who could “garner serious looks” during the upcoming head coaching cycle. The 2025 season is Campanile’s first as a defensive coordinator. Before that, he was a linebackers coach for Green Bay and with Miami.Under Campanile, the Jaguars’ defense ranks 12th in points per game allowed this season. This unit is also eighth in both yards per rush and yards per pass surrendered and is sixth in turnover differential.Campanile’s defensive system has proven to be malleable and quick to adjust based on the opponent and what his own players do best. When Campanile was first hired as the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator, he discussed the importance of building a culture of honesty and accountability.”I mean that for myself, first and foremost,” Campanile said via Jaguars.com. “I’m going to work my (expletive) off every day. I’m going to come in this building with a passion to win. They can expect that. I’m going to be passionate when I get up in front of them.”Beyond what Campanile has added to the Jaguars’ defense, he is someone who can greatly impact a team’s culture, which is something that a team in search of a head coach is going to need. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: Could Jaguars’ assistant coach land a new job in 2026?
