ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds fuel to the Justin Jefferson speculations

Justin Jefferson signed a massive extension with the Minnesota Vikings back in 2024, staying with the team with a new four-year, $140 million deal. However, just one year after signing this extension, could the Vikings unload their star wide receiver?ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday floated the idea of a blockbuster trade. Schefter cited the surprise about a Micah Parsons trade as the platform that could allow an idea like this to take place. “They’re going to speak to him, I’m sure, at some point in time, and get some feedback and input as to the player that he would want. It’s hard to imagine that they would trade Justin Jefferson, but then again, a year ago, I would’ve said it’s hard to imagine the Dallas Cowboys would trade Micah Parsons, and they did.”With this being said, Adam Schefter does not believe the likelihood of a trade for Justin Jefferson materializing.”I still don’t think they’re trading Justin Jefferson. I think he’s clearly miffed and disappointed and bewildered by the way this entire season — and offseason losing Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones — has gone. But I don’t think it’s going to change much, and I don’t think they’re going to be moving off Justin Jefferson this offseason,” Schefter reasoned. What sparked this topic was the Minnesota Vikings’ brutal performance last Sunday. Jefferson would total just two receptions for four yards, and left the locker room after the game without speaking to the media. It is safe to say the quarterback play this year has been less than ideal, and this performance was the worst of Jefferson’s career. The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the best receivers in football, and coming into the year was on pace to be an all-time great. But you have to wonder: with just two playoff berths in six seasons and no clear answer at quarterback, how much patience will Jefferson show?
