Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz has been one of the team’s best players, signing as a free agent in March 2024. Ertz started every game for the Commanders in 2024, finishing second on the team in receiving. While this season has been a difficult one for Washington, Ertz has remained productive. In Sunday’s Week 14 game against the Minnesota Vikings, Ertz suffered a gruesome hit to the knee/thigh area and was helped off the field. He caught one pass against the Vikings for 11 yards. The 35-year-old Ertz spent the first 8.5 seasons of his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles before he was traded midway through the 2021 season to the Arizona Cardinals. Ertz resurrected his career with the Cardinals and then-head coach Kliff Kingsbury. When Kingsbury was hired as Washington’s offensive coordinator ahead of the 2024 season, signing Ertz was one of Washington’s first moves.
