Darren Klingerman Invitational (DKI)Mahanoy, Pine Grove, Schuylkill Haven, and Tamaqua all took part in the Darren Klingerman Invitational at Bloomsburg High School.Pine Grove finished third, Mahanoy Area finished sixth, Tamaqua finished 14th, and Schuylkill Haven finished 23rd.Winning the invitational at the team level was Honesdale, with Abington Heights finishing second.Pine Grove’s Colby Townley won the tournament’s final at 145 pounds with a tech. fall over Micah Engleman of Crestwood (20-4) while Aaron Ostachuk was the runner-up at 152 pounds to Mahanoy Area’s Rory Dixon.For Mahanoy Area, three Golden Bears appeared in the championship round, with Aturo Reyes finishing runner-up in the 127-pound bracket to Hamburg’s Chase Holman, while Kyler Quick won the 215-pound bracket with a decision over Brockway’s Maddox Decker.Tamaqua’s highest finisher was Ryan Reitz in the 121-pound bracket, finishing third, while Brody Schlier finished in fourth place at 139 pounds.Schuylkill Haven’s Jack Krammes finished seventh at 152 pounds.Sam Lovello ClassicPanther Valley finished 15th in the Sam Lovello Classic at Brandywine Heights High School. Berks Catholic, Lehighton, and Blair Academy (New Jersey) were the top three school finishers in the tournament.Panther Valley’s Carlos Maldonado-Rosa was the Panthers’ highest finisher, finishing fifth at 215 pounds.Solanco Mule ClassicIn the Solanco Mule Classic at Solanco High School, Blue Mountain finished eighth while Central Dauphin, Palmyra, and Donegal took the top three placements.The Eagles’ Owen Wall won the tournament at 160 pounds, with a major decision over Santino Sianni of Salesianum School in Delaware. It was the 118th victory of Woll’s career.Vaugh Haleverson finished as the runner-up at 285 pounds as well, falling to Kevin Oswalt of Exeter in a major decision. Caden Fenstermacher also finished fourth at 114 pounds, falling to Francis Perri of Central Dauphin.Tom Best Memorial Top Hat TournamentIn the Tom Best Memorial Top Hat Tournament at Williamsport High School, Tri-Valley finished 12th. Emmaus, Connelsville, and Mifflinburg were the top three finishers.Maxwell Masser notably made it to the championship finals at 189 pounds before being pinned by Hazleton Area’s Mason Marolo. Owen Wolfgang finished fourth at 107 pounds, while Hunter Updegrave finished sixth at 172, and Jaxon Bruso finished eighth at 139.Case-Flynn DualsPottsville hosted its Case-Flynn Duals on Saturday, amassing a 1-5 team record in the team duals.The Crimson Tide fell to Pocono Mountain East 38-24, Northern York 65-12, Milton 49-24, William Tennent 44-30, and Radnor 45-28 while defeating Palmerton 42-26.Crimson Tide star Terrell McFarland finished the day with a 6-0 record at 215 pounds, as did Cole Cook at 114 pounds. McFarland, in the midst of his perfect day, etched career win No. 100 in the process.Spartan DualsNorth Schuylkill took part in the Spartan Duals at Springfield Township High School, finishing the day with an overall record of 4-1.After falling to Malvern Prep 67-0, the Spartans bounced back with a 72-0 win over Harriton, a 65-6 win over Springfield Township, a 75-0 win over Germantown Friends, and a 48-25 win over Springfield Delco.Seven different Spartans lost their first match of the day before winning each of their last four, including freshman 139-pounder Brock Holmes, who bounced back from a 17-2 defeat in his first match against Malvern Prep’s Tyler Conroy, a Princeton commit, with his four straight wins including a pair of pins in under a minute.
