Miami Marlins third baseman Graham Pauley left Friday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh inning with right oblique discomfort. Milwaukee right-hander Grant Anderson threw an inside pitch to Pauley in his third at-bat of the game. Pauley spun to avoid the pitch that was chest high and then took a few steps away from the batter’s box before leaning over in apparent discomfort and leaving the game.

The Kentucky Wildcats baseball team got a series opening win against Vanderbilt on Friday on a ninth inning grand slam.

Heliot Ramos hit a three-run homer, Logan Webb pitched six solid innings and the San Francisco Giants beat the Washington Nationals 10-5 on Friday night. Drew Gilbert and Casey Schmitt hit solo homers, and Matt Chapman had three hits and drove in three runs for the Giants, who had scored three runs or less in each of their past five games. Ramos drove in his fourth run with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth.

Oneil Cruz hit a two-run home run, Brandon Lowe went 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Tampa Bay 5-1 on Friday night to snap the Ray’s six-game win streak. Bubba Chandler (1-1) allowed a run and three hits over six innings. Mason Montgomery, Gregory Soto and Dennis Santana each pitched an inning of scoreless relief.

The veteran big man will be available for Golden State’s elimination game on Friday against the Suns.

The Orioles trailed by four before exploding for six runs in the eighth inning.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Austin Riley hit a three-run homer in the second inning and a solo shot in the ninth, Martin Perez pitched six innings and the Atlanta Braves’ routed the Philadelphia Phillies 9-0 on Friday night.

Dominic Smith and Michael Harris II also homered to help NL East-leading Atlanta improve to 13-7 with its third straight victory.

Perez (1-1) was designated for assignment Sunday then signed a minor league deal Wednesday. He limited the Phillies to four hits, and José Suarez gave up two hits in the final three innings in picking up his first save.

Phillies starter Taijuan Walker (1-3) allowed seven runs in four innings.

The Braves loaded the bases in the first on leadoff hitter Ronald Acuna Jr.’s walk, Drake Baldwin’s single and Matt Olson’s walk. Ozzie Albies drove in Acuna with a groundout, and Mike Yastrzemski had an infield single off Walker’s leg to make it 2-0.

Olson had an RBI single in the second, and Walker upped it to 6-0 with two outs with his three-run shot to right-center.
