The first day of the PIAA’s state football finals wrapped Thursday with champions being crowned in Class 1A and Class 4A.On Friday night, another champion will be crowned in the Class 5A state championship between Bishop McDevitt (12-2) and Roman Catholic (11-3).The two programs faced each other in the Class 5A state finals last season, with Bishop McDevitt winning 34-31 in overtime. Since then, the reigning champion Crusaders have averaged nearly 40 points per game through the playoffs and have posted a 12-2 record.Meanwhile, Roman Catholic hasn’t been held under 48 points since a 26-14 win over Bonner-Prendie in late October.
