Broncos veteran on Year 20 says 2025 will be final season in the NFL

After losing tight end Nate Adkins to a knee injury in October, the Denver Broncos brought in veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis to provide more depth at the position. Lewis, 41, has been elevated from the practice squad to the game-day roster three times, becoming the oldest player in franchise history to appear in a regular-season or postseason game. This year marked his 20th campaign in the NFL, and it will be a last hurrah for Lewis.”This will be the first time I’ve ever said this — because I haven’t — but this is it,” Lewis said on the Nightcap podcast when asked by Shannon Sharpe if 2025 will be his final season in the NFL. Lewis said it was difficult waiting months into the season before being signed. “In my mind, I’m like, ‘There’s not 64 tight ends better than me in this league. And I know I could be out there helping somebody win,'” Lewis recalled to Sharpe. “Especially for what I do at this point in my career — I’m the best at this, point of contact, setting the edge … I take it serious.” Lewis said he’s been playing football since he was seven years old, and he’s ready to travel the world after hanging up his cleats following the 2025 season. He currently has 437 career receptions for 5,115 yards and 40 touchdowns on his resume. Lewis played 38 snaps in three appearances with Denver while Adkins was sidelined.Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Did you know: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. This article originally appeared on Broncos Wire: NFL: Marcedes Lewis says 20th season will be year in the league
