And he appears to have the team of UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev to thank for it.On Friday, Misfits Boxing announced via social media that Danis has been forced out of his planned title defense against Anthony Taylor at Misfits Mania on Dec. 20 in Dubai. According to the announcement, Danis suffered an injury during his recent brawl at UFC 322 in Madison Square Garden in November.Danis was caught on video getting into an altercation with members of Makhachev’s team, who were sat cageside. As a result, UFC CEO Dana White banned Danis from any future UFC events. New York City Mayor Eric Adams also recently publicly declared that the incident is under investigation by the NYPD. Adams guaranteed that all parties involved will be held accountable, though no punishments have been handed out at this time.Misfits Boxing’s statement reads as follows.“Unfortunately, Dillon Danis will not be competing at “The Fight Before Christmas” event in Dubai on December 20, 2025.“Independent physicians have determined that he is not medically cleared to compete at this time due to the melee that occurred at Madison Square Garden last month.“We want to be very direct: this call is being made solely by medical professionals. Dillon pushed for every possible path to remain on the card, but the doctors were not willing to clear him to compete this month.“Misfits Boxing takes athlete health extremely seriously, and we fully expect him back in the Misfits ring in 2026 to defend his Misfits MMA title.”View this post on InstagramDanis, 32, returned to MMA competition for the first time since 2019 when he defeated Warren Spencer at Misfits Boxing 22 in August. Danis needed only 15 seconds to submit Spencer with a guillotine, improving his pro MMA record to 3-0 after previously competing twice for Bellator.The Taylor fight was set to be Danis’ third under the Misfits umbrella. Prior to the Warren fight, Danis tried his hand at boxing, infamously losing via disqualification against Logan Paul in 2023.
