Here’s a quick inventory check. During the most recent offseason, many believed that, for the Philadelphia Eagles to win, the offense would have to carry the defense. Things certainly have changed. We’ve seen the defensive and special teams bail the offense out on more than one occasion. The vaunted Eagles offense has sputtered much too often, and the narratives have flipped. If the defense can’t carry the team, Kevin Patullo and company aren’t good enough to consistently produce victories.We’ve seen six bad quarters from Jalen Hurts and company. The result has been two successive losses. Now, they eye a road date vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. Jesse Minter leads their defense, and they’re loaded with talent.Daiyan Henley, linebackerIf Daiyan Henley were on a consistently overrated roster like the Cowboys, he’d already be treated as one of the league’s rising stars. Luckily, he plays in a primary media market. Let’s hope his breakout performance doesn’t happen on Monday Night Football.By the way, if you’re unaware, Navorro Bowman is the Chargers’ linebacker coach. He’s certainly someone that Henley can soak up the game from. Tuli Tuipulotu, linebackerTuli Tuipulotu is the younger brother of former Eagles defensive lineman Marlon Tuipulotu. The younger sibling landed on the 2023 Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Rookie Team. So far, he has notched 131 tackles and 23 sacks in three seasons. That includes 36 tackles, ten sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and 16 additional QB hits in 2025. Derwin James, safetyDerwin James hasn’t had any issues with finding his way into the spotlight. He’s a four-time Pro Bowler, a 2018 First-Team All-Pro, and a two-time Second-Team All-Pro (2022, 2024).This season, he has produced the Chargers’ second-highest solo (36) and total (67) tackle tally. That includes five tackles for loss. Add that to his two sacks, four pass breakups, and an interception. Cam Hart, cornerbackCam Hart is one of L.A.’s starting outside cornerbacks. He has only missed one game this season, and his 2025 resume consists of 34 tackles and seven pass breakups. He’s partially responsible for stopping the Eagles’ talented receiving corps. Keep an eye on the battle on the outside when Philadelphia takes its offensive attack to the air. Justin Eboigbe, defensive linemanThe Eagles’ offensive line has struggled this season, and here comes another challenge, Justin Eboigbe. The Chargers star has already stacked four sacks and five tackles for loss. Odafe Oweh, EDGEOdafe Oweh arrived at the party late. The Baltimore Ravens gave up on him. They traded him to the Chargers in exchange for safety Alohi Gilman.Head coach Jim Harbaugh gave him the ultimate compliment, comparing him to Khalil Mack. His first seven games in the AFC West have produced four sacks and seven additional hits on the opposing quarterback.
