Grading the Raiders pick from The Athletic’s latest NFL mock draft

The Las Vegas Raiders (2-10) enter Week 14 currently slated to own the No. 4 overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft. If the Raiders end up drafting that high, general manager John Spytek must strongly consider drafting a quarterback to succeed Geno Smith. The aging Smith has not met expectations this season, and Spytek could possibly release him this offseason. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler recently released his first mock draft of the 2026 cycle. Brugler is one of the more plugged-in and well-informed draft analysts. He has the Raiders executing a total blockbuster, with Spytek trading up to No. 2 overall to take Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore.Mock Draft 1.0🏈Browns, Raiders get aggressive to land QBs🏈Steelers’ best-case scenario if they want a QB?🏈Buckeyes match the record for most top-20 picks🏈Cowboys go defense, defense w/ both 1stshttps://t.co/7r5FuJA9Ru— Dane Brugler (@dpbrugler) December 3, 2025″The Raiders’ acquisition of Geno Smith last offseason appeared sound at the time, but it hasn’t worked out,” Brugler writes. “As with the Browns, it makes sense for the Raiders to be aggressive this offseason if they see a chance to land a long-term solution at the most important position on the roster.”Moore is still just 20 years old and will have fewer than 20 career starts on his resume after this season. And, with Oregon’s NIL potential, he’ll also have plenty of reasons to stay in school. But could he pass up a potential spot in the top five? I continue to be impressed with the way Moore has responded to everything Oregon has put on his plate this season. His command of the offense and natural accuracy as a passer are strong selling points for the quarterback he will become in the NFL.”Moore has thrown for 2,733 yards and 24 touchdowns to date, with just six interceptions. Oregon ranks No. 5 overall in the latest College Football Playoff rankings. Moore will continue receiving opportunities to elevate his potential draft stock. The Raiders will be following his progress closely.Grade: B+This article originally appeared on Raiders Wire: Grading the Raiders pick from The Athletic’s latest NFL mock draft
