Iowa wrestling sweeps Big Ten weekly honors

Despite Iowa wrestling (5-2) dropping the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series dual meet against Iowa State (2-0) on Nov. 30 from Ames, Iowa, the Hawkeyes duo of sophomore Ryder Block and redshirt freshman Angelo Ferrari both earned Big Ten weekly honors, according to the league’s announcement on Thursday, Dec. 4.Starting with Block, the 5-foot-11, 141-pounder from Waverly, Iowa, native earned the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week distinction after he defeated Iowa State’s No. 2-ranked Paniro Johnson by a 2-1 in a first-set tiebreaker by escaping in three seconds to sudden victory point and the upset win to improve to 3-1 on the season.B1G Block 💪 pic.twitter.com/ZkNdTjvqZd— Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling (@Hawks_Wrestling) December 4, 2025Block is the third different Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this season, joining Massoma Endene (Nov. 28) and Ferrari (Nov. 20).As for Ferrari, he earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors by defeating ISU’s No. 10 Issac Dean by a 2-1 decision after forcing a stall call in the third period.
