Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has been announced as the team’s nominee for the 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, the top honor awarded by the NFL for community service and off-field acts of positivity. This is Simmons’ third consecutive year as the Titans’ winner and league-wide nominee, becoming the first Titan to earn the honor more than twice in a row since Kevin Carter (2002-05). “A lot of guys on this team do a lot of work out in the community and for me to be nominated three years in a row, that means so much to me and is truly an honor,” Simmons said in a team release. “This award is the biggest award in the NFL, and it just shows no matter what’s happening on the field, our community needs us, and that’s what I see when I see the award. I see the Nashville community. I see the Mississippi community. It’s not just for me; it’s for everyone that I try to impact each and every day through the game of football.”Simmons founded the “Give Em A Reason” foundation, through which he’s worked with organizations including: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rally on the Runway, Backfield In Motion, the MNPS HERO program and the Nashville Juvenile Detention Center, among others. As the Titans’ winner of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year honor, Simmons will receive $40,000 for the nonprofit beneficiary of his choosing. If Simmons wins the league-wide honor, which will be announced on Feb. 5 before the Super Bowl, his foundation will receive a $250,000 donation.Starting in Week 14 and for the rest of the season, Simmons and the NFL’s other 31 honorees will wear a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year helmet decal. The Titans (1-11) visit the Cleveland Browns (3-9) at Huntington Bank Field on Dec. 7 (noon CT, FOX).Nick Suss is the Titans beat writer for The Tennessean.
