Ketel Marte trade rumors: 4 teams who could deal for Diamondbacks 2B

Ketel Marte had another All-Star season for the Arizona Diamondbacks amid what was a year with some unexpected challenges for the veteran second baseman and outfielder. But now, he’s at the center of trade rumors. Why is that? It’s because the Diamondbacks might need some serious pitching help, and the return on Marte could be really good. There also might be issues with payroll — ownership may not be able to continue to shell out the kind of cash Arizona has been paying. On top of that, Marte’s contract that runs through 2030 with a 2031 player option is pretty affordable (it’s six years at over $116 million). So who could look to acquire him? Here’s a look:Seattle MarinersA reunion for Marte and the Mariners could be great for both player and franchise. Seattle could use yet another bat and a second baseman as it tries to get to its first World Series ever. An ideal move for a contender.Toronto Blue JaysIt would be something to lose Bo Bichette to another team in free agency and bring in Marte. Boston Red SoxIf they lose Alex Bregman, they could end up with Marte (sorry, Kristian Campbell, you might have to wait a little longer to be a starter).Detroit TigersThis is a “make the trade and worry about the fit later” move. I’m not sure where the Tigers put him, but if they want to keep contending, this could be the right deal to make. This article originally appeared on For The Win: Ketel Marte trade rumors: Landing spots for Diamondbacks star
