The Marquette volleyball team put a scare into the host team.But the Golden Eagles couldn’t finish off the job in a 21-25, 25-11, 23-25, 25-19, 15-12 loss to second-seeded Louisville in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Dec. 6 at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena in Louisville, Kentucky.MU (18-11) ended its first season under head coach Tom Mendoza.Natalie Ring had 29 kills for the Golden Eagles, who couldn’t finish off the match after gaining a 2-1 set advantage. Ring, a Madison native, has reached double-digit kills in 32 straight matches. Hattie Bray, the former Wautoma High School standout, ended her MU career with a season-best nine blocks.MU has reached the second round of the NCAA tournament nine times in program history.
