Penn State athletics director Pat Kraft made major headlines after audio of an alleged meeting between him and players was leaked.He talked of the impact on his career if he doesn’t hire the right person to lead Penn State football and aimed other remarks at fellow Big Ten programs.Kraft’s remarks were part of a purported audio recording of a recent meeting with players and staff that was carried on the Dead Air Sports podcast.Some of his most jarring comments, though, were about Big Ten rivals like Ohio State, Oregon and Michigan, whose highly-publicized, cheating scandal was resolved by the NCAA last August. The audio recording was released on Thursday evening, a day before Penn State officials were working a deal to make Iowa State’s Matt Campbell their next head coach.”Michigan (expletive) stinks. (Expletive) joke, Cheated their (expletive) off. That’s real by the way, what they did,” Kraft said in the recording.”Oregon? (expletive) quarterback was shaking in overtime. All part of what everything we’re talking …”The audio also captures Kraft calling Oregon “a bunch of (expletive) weirdos.”The recording, which features unidentified players speaking, was edited and does not feature the entire meeting, according to Dead Air Sports.Recording and leaking the meeting without proper consent could be a felony under Pennsylvania’s wiretap laws.Penn State officials did not immediately respond a request for comment.Kraft said this about Oregon in an alleged players’ comment about the difficulty of recruiting to State College:“Oh, I agree. Our fans, our people don’t understand. It’s a challenge. ‘What am I going to (expletive) do?’ Oregon? Have you all been to Oregon? Ain’t (expletive) going on, it’s a bunch of (expletive) weirdos.”He also purportedly said this about Ohio State:”Ohio State is Ohio State. But (expletive) A, it’s not like they’re lightyears better than us, talented-wise.
