Taevon Welle nets five goals in Bemidji’s win over Prowlers

Dec. 4—THIEF RIVER FALLS — It was Taevon Welle’s night on Tuesday.The Bemidji High School boys hockey senior forward scored five goals in the Lumberjacks’ 6-5 road win over Thief River Falls.Welle scored twice in the first and third periods and once in the second. Joel Prokop broke the 5-5 tie seven and a half minutes into the third period to give BHS a 6-5 lead.Spencer Anderson and Hudson Brouse scored twice for the Prowlers, while Johnny Rogalla scored once.Quinn Niemi had four assists for Bemidji, while Cal Mattfield had three. Thief River Falls went 3-for-7 on the power play.Jack Norgaard made 16 saves for the Jacks in goal.
