The New Orleans Saints have long been in search of their next franchise quarterback, and while the jury is still out, rookie Tyler Shough is making a strong case for himself. He further showed that when he clocked an impressive speed of some 19.43 mph as he took it to the house on a 34-yard run. Shough has primarily been labeled a pocket passer throughout his college career and the beginning of his NFL career, but lately, he’s drawn a lot of positive comments for what he can do with his legs as well. And that’s certainly something that appeals to the Saints, who have used hyper-mobile players like Taysom Hill at quarterback in the past. And, while Shough is no Hill in that regard, he does present more than just the ability to move around the pocket and run in short-yardage situation, which is almost a requirement of quarterbacking in the modern era of the NFL.Tyler Shough hit a top speed of 19.43 MPH on this 34-yard TD run, per @NextGenStats 💨📲 Stream with NFL+pic.twitter.com/UCXIKDYBTn— NFL+ (@NFLPlus) December 7, 2025But Shough wasn’t done yet, adding another score with his legs midway through the fourth quarter in a close game. But, in all seriousness, this is the type of electricity the Saints need in a close game like this, and provides optimism in what has otherwise been an abysmal situation in 2025.This article originally appeared on Saints Wire: Saints QB Tyler Shough hits lightning speed on 34-yard TD run vs. Bucs
