There’s no division in football that’s been better than the NFC West this season. There are three teams with at least nine wins, led by the 10-3 Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks.The Rams have been atop the division for the last several weeks but by no means have they locked up their second straight NFC West title. There’s still a long way to go and a lot can change in the final four weeks of the season.In all likelihood, the division will come down to a Week 16 matchup between the Rams and Seahawks, a prime-time game on Thursday Night Football a week before Christmas. With Week 14 in the books and both the Rams and Seahawks winning, here’s the latest outlook in the division based on The Athletic’s playoff simulator.Current NFC West odds (via The Athletic)Rams: 58%Seahawks: 38%49ers: 11%As of now, the Rams have a 58% chance to win the West. The Seahawks have a 31% chance and the 49ers’ odds sit at 11%. If the Rams beat the Lions and the Seahawks beat the Colts, Los Angeles’ odds will improve slightly to 60%. If the Rams lose and the Seahawks win, however, LA’s division title odds will drop to 39%.But again, the division will likely come down to Week 16 at Seattle. Even if the Rams lose this coming Sunday and beat the Seahawks next Thursday, they’ll have a 77% chance to win the division. From that point, they would just need to beat the Falcons and Cardinals in the last two weeks to lock up the division, regardless of what Seattle does in its final two games.If the Rams win their next two games regardless of what Seattle does, they will have a 96% chance to win the division. If they lose the next two, the Rams’ odds drop to 1%, assuming Seattle beats the Colts.Here’s another scenario: If the Seahawks win out, they will win the division, even if the Rams beat the Lions, Falcons and Cardinals.The 49ers aren’t out of it, either. If San Francisco wins out, the Rams go 3-1 with a loss to Seattle and the Seahawks go 3-1 with a loss to San Francisco in the finale, it’ll be the 49ers who win the division.In other words, there are two absolutely critical games left on the schedule for all three teams: Week 16 between the Rams and Seahawks, and Week 18 between the 49ers and Seattle. Those two games will decide the division winner, most likely.The good news is that if the Rams win out, they will take the West.
