Washburn volleyball’s season comes to an end in Regional Semifinals

KEARNEY, NE (KSNT) – The No. 7 Washburn volleyball team saw its season come to an end in the NCAA Volleyball Regional Semifinals to No. 6 seed Concordia St.The ‘Bods lost in a sweep to the Golden Bears, 25-21, 25-21, 26-24.It was a back-and-forth match with eight ties in the first 16 points of the first set. The ‘Bods went on a 6-0 run in the second set, after freshman Brooklyn Morrissey recorded a kill. Washburn was unable to pull a third-set win, as Concordia St. sealed the win in sweeping fashion.The Ichabods were led by Austin Broadie and Brynne Topolski, who each had nine kills. Autumn Gibs led the team with 16 digs.It was a historic season for Washburn, recording its most wins in a season since 2021, with 27. The ‘Bods made back-to-back the Central Region Semifinals and won a share of the program’s sixth MIAA Regular Season Championship. Washburn also reached the MIAA Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2013.For more sports news, click here.
