Why Jaylen Brown wants Jordan Walsh to stay grounded amid hot streak

BOSTON — It’s not an exaggeration to say that Jordan Walsh has transformed the 2025-26 Boston Celtics. The third-year wing is playing the best basketball of his career and it showed during a 126-105 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. The 21-year-old recorded 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal in just 26 minutes against the undermanned Lakers, who were missing star guard Luka Doncic (due to personal reasons) and 4-time MVP LeBron James (due to a left foot injury). Over the last three contests, Walsh has missed just 1 of his 19 shots from the field. Boston went 3-0 during that span and is 9-2 with Walsh in the starting lineup.Celtics star Jaylen Brown has obviously witnessed Walsh’s growth this season. In fact, he’s helped foster it by advocating for the Celtics youngster off the court. However, that doesn’t mean Brown wants all of this newfound success to get to Walsh’s head.Following the Friday night victory, the longest-tenured Celtic praised Walsh while reminding him to remember the groundwork that’s greatly benefitted his development.”It’s been great, honestly,” Brown said when asked about Walsh’s rising confidence. “I don’t want to boost his head up too much. I don’t want him to start getting cute. He has to still take care of the details.”It’s been difficult to not sing Walsh’s praises, as the former benchwarmer has recorded more points and steals in his last 15 outings than in his first two seasons combined. Brown can especially appreciate that since he’s usually the one who’s tasked with leading the C’s in all facets of the game night in and night out — and everybody could use a little bit of help.”He’s been doing a good job,” Brown complimented. “We’re going to need him to maintain that. So, ya’ll don’t boost his head up too much.”Brown, Walsh, and the rest of the 14-9 C’s will return to the floor on Sunday afternoon against the 15-9 Toronto Raptors. And while Walsh is likely enjoying the kudos coming his way after beating the rival Lakers, it’s hard to imagine a guy like him — who’s fought for every minute he’s ever had in the NBA — forgetting his hard work and humble beginnings.Listen to “Havlicek Stole the Pod” on:Spotify: https://tiny.ee/CdKpiTunes: https://tiny.ee/RK47YouTube: https://tiny.ee/cOW3This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Celtics wing Jordan Walsh is on a roll, and that continued vs. the Lakers
