With the last game of Wildcard Weekend coming up tonight, we’re looking at what should be an exciting matchup between the Minnesota Vikings & The Los Angeles Rams. While the Rams are considered the home team for tonight, the game had to be moved to the stadium of the Arizona Cardinals due to the wildfires taking place in Los Angeles.
Although both teams are coming off a Week 18 loss, it’s safe to say they took place in very different styles. The Vikings were blown out by the Detroit Lions in a head 2 head battle for the NFC North, and the Rams lost a close game to the Seattle Seahawks while a large majority of their starters sat the game out.
The Vikings are currently -2.5 favorites at a -142 Moneyline (DraftKings Sportsbook) at the time of this article being written. In addition to that, they are currently holding roughly 68% of the total Bets with 73% of the total handle on the -2.5 Spread. (Via BetKarma)
In what will be Sam Darnold’s FIRST ever NFL Playoff start, we are going to back the “home” team tonight and take Los Angeles with the points. If anything, Week 18 made it very clear that Sam Darnold still has plenty of flaws, some of which can’t be hidden behind the high-powered weapons he has on his offensive arsenal. Although I do think Minnesota is a better team overall on paper, the playoffs are a time where elite QB play is more important than ever. Not saying I would put Matthew Stafford in the “elite” category in today’s day and age, but I would take him 10 times out of 10 over Sam Darnold with my season on the line.
Although “fading the public” does not come with the same level of betting success as it has in years past, there really seems like no better time than tonight. The lights will end up being too bright for Sam Darnold, and all it will take is 1 or 2 critical mistakes for him alone to cost his team the game. With his 2 favorite weapons by his side, Matthew Stafford will cruise down the field with ease and remind the world why he is a Super Bowl Champion.
