Oregon Football 2026 Signing Day: Ducks land 4-Star WR Messiah Hampton

The Oregon Ducks have received a wide range of verbal commitments from some of the best prospects in the country, and also some under-the-radar players. One of those lesser-known guys, wide receiver Messiah Hampton, is who we’ll be talking about today. The book on him is that he can contribute meaningfully in every single area of the game. Hampton has a chance to become an all-around playmaker who can diversify the Ducks’ offense. He has been committed to Oregon for nearly six months while finishing up his high school ball at James Monroe in New York. Hampton is a multi-sport athlete who made a name for himself during his senior season, where he exploded on offense as a receiver and running back, while also playing defense. The Ducks will be receiving a true jack-of-all-trades player when he joins the team in Eugene, Oregon, next spring.OREGON DUCKS SIGNING DAY TRACKER: CLICK HERE B1G addition out of New York. @messiah_O8 is an Oregon Duck!#GoDucks x #NSD26pic.twitter.com/VD1JzQsC2M— Oregon Football (@oregonfootball) December 3, 2025Messiah Hampton Recruiting Rankings247Sports Ranking: 4-star (91)National Ranking: N/APosition Ranking: No. 35247Sports Composite Ranking: 4-star (0.9425)National Ranking: No. 133Position Ranking: No. 19Messiah Hampton Position OutlookHampton is young and relatively inexperienced, so it would be hard to imagine him getting on the field much in his freshman season at Oregon. He didn’t face elite competition regularly in high school, so there will likely be a learning curve and some development that needs to take place before he plays at the college level.Oregon Wide Receiver OutlookUnfortunately for Hampton, the Ducks are absolutely loaded at wide receiver. We already know about the true freshman phenom Dakorien Moore, who has looked the part of an elite wideout all season long, but there are many other plates at the pass-catching table. Evan Stewart never even got to touch the field this year due to injury, and Oregon has still had unbelievable amounts of depth at the position. There just doesn’t appear to be a path towards a tangible impact for Hampton in Year One.Oregon 2026 Class OutlookGoing into the Early Signing Period, the Ducks are expected to sign a fourth-straight top-10 class, and there’s a good chance that they ink another top-5 class, challenging for the best signing class in program history yet again under Dan Lanning. While Oregon may not have the size of class that we’ve seen in the past, pushing 30 recruits, it does rank as the best in the nation when it comes to the average rating of recruits. The Ducks focused on quality over quantity this cycle, and they’re bringing in a handful of the best players in the nation as members of the 2026 class.Contact/Follow @Ducks_Wire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Oregon Ducks news, notes, and opinions. This article originally appeared on Ducks Wire: Oregon Football Signing Day: Ducks land 4-star WR Messiah Hampton
